I assembled a list of the e-mail addresses of every Member of the House of Representatives. Then I sent them all an individually addressed e-mail, asking them for a straight "Yes" or "No" to a few of questions. I told them I'd publish their answers on this website, in two weeks' time (along with the names of MPs who don't respond).
I asked the MPs to spare me the long complicated answers. All I want, I told them, was for them to commit in public to a position on the issue concerned, and undertake to do something about it.
I'm hoping it will focus the people we elect to parliament on the reality that, ultimately, it's they (or the public service chiefs who report to them) who are responsible and accountable.
